The Anime Festival is ready to conquer Kassel! After three sold-out years in Freiburg, it's time for an expansion and the festival will now take place in Kassel's Kongress Palais. The Kongress Palais has been a popular meeting place for fans of Japanese anime and manga art for decades. The Anime Festival is grateful for the support of its fans in Freiburg who have made the event what it is today. The festival offers a unique programme with high-profile guests of honour, local artists and many cosplayers. The Anime Festival in Kassel will take place from 27 to 29 October 2023. The city of Kassel and the Kongress Palais are excited about the festival, which continues a long-standing tradition in Kassel and offers new potential. Attention Kassel, here we come! After three consecutive sold-out editions of the Anime Festival in Freiburg, it's time for us to expand. We're packing our bags and making a stop in the heart of Germany, at the beautiful Kassel Kongress Palais.
For decades, the Kongress Palais has been a pilgrimage site for many fans of Japanese anime and manga art. We're thrilled to be able to continue this tradition in Kassel with our move from Freiburg. At the same time, we want to thank the anime fans from Freiburg who have helped make the Anime Festival what it is today: an event with a unique program featuring top guests from the anime and manga industry, and the best show acts with great local artists showcasing their works.
We know that we're taking on a big legacy in Kassel. We know that we're not the same event. But if you're up for three great days of anime, manga, and cosplay in the heart of Germany, we'll organize an unforgettable anime event for you! Even if you may not be familiar with the Anime Festival yet, we're no strangers, and we're anime fans with heart and soul! Behind the Anime Festival are anime fans who met in Kassel 15 years ago. We're the anime fans from the Anime Kultur e.V., who are responsible for projects such as AnimeRadio.de, Anime Messe Babelsberg near Berlin, and the translation of the anime Shakugan no Shana with emania ANIME. We'll also put our fan hearts into the new Anime Festival Kassel and do everything we can to organize a great event for you. Do you also have a big fan heart? When does the Anime Festival Kassel take place?
From October 27th to 29th, 2023. However, Friday is a very special day! We will celebrate with you the start of the very first Anime Festival in Kassel. There will be an opening ceremony at 7:15 pm, followed by two top-notch J-POP concerts and a closing J-Disco. The evening program on Friday starts at 7:15 pm and goes until midnight. Exhibitors will be open on Saturday and Sunday.
How much do tickets cost and when are they available?
Ticket sales start on March 1st, 2023, with a one-time discount promotion. On that day, we will also announce the ticket prices.
What are the opening hours of the Anime Festival Kassel?

What kind of program will be offered at the Anime Festival Kassel?
We will offer you a colorful mix of various program areas. Japanese guests of honor, concerts, performance groups, workshops, J-Disco, merchants, exhibitors, artist alley, anime cinema, games area, etc. are planned. We will announce the individual program items gradually.
