Yes, there will be differences to Connichi. Please keep in mind that Anime Festival Kassel is a completely separate event. Although there will be many similarities, we cannot and will not be an exact copy of Connichi. We would like to point out that there is a scheduling conflict for 2023, due to which we will not be able to use the entire building. The colonnade wing (inner courtyard) has been rented to someone else, which means that we will not be able to reproduce the Matsuri in the known form, among other things. There is still a chance that we will get the complete building, but we have to plan without this part of the building for the time being. Although we are not starting from scratch, the Anime Festival Kassel will be a bit smaller. However, we will organize a great event with great guests of honor for 2023. If it goes well in 2023, the event in 2024 will be even better and so on!
We are just ordinary anime fans like you, who have taken it upon ourselves to promote anime and Japanese culture in the German-speaking area. We used to meet regularly at the Connichi in Kassel 15 years ago, which led to the founding of the Anime Kultur e.V. Although the Anime Kultur e.V. is based in Berlin, our members are scattered throughout Germany and Austria, and some members also come from the Kassel region. To carry out our projects more professionally and work better with our partners in Japan, we have founded the emania Media Service GmbH. But as we said, we are just ordinary anime fans who work 100% on a voluntary basis. We are happy about anyone who wants to become part of our association and support us.
We welcome any volunteer who wants to join our team - whether as an event helper on site or already in the organizational team. If you are interested, just write us an email to info@animefestival.de and tell us something about yourself. As an anime event consists of various areas, you can also let us know your favorite area. For example: cosplay, Japan, workshops, trading card games, gaming area, maid cafe, weapons check, exhibitors, marketing, social media, partner search, and much more.
The Kongress Palais has prepared a survey of possible hotels for the Anime Festival Kassel. The rooms have been reserved exclusively for the festival. But you are also welcome to book a hotel room on a portal of your choice.
