Through practising traditional forms, known as kata, we have been cultivating this martial art for over 400 years, during which time it has been traditionally passed down from master to student.
The aim of a kata is always to successfully counter an attack and emerge from the situation as the survivor. Nowadays, however, real conflict is not the main focus, as iaido is not a defensive art in the modern sense. Iaido is about character building. You conquer your own ego, your inner demons, your self, and submit to the strict rules of this Japanese art.
In Eishin Ryu Iaido, preserving tradition plays an important role. That is why we train the forms according to Japanese guidelines and adhere to their rules and strategies. The etiquette of this art is also taught and thus preserved.
All of this provides a unique insight into Japanese sword art and its philosophy.
In addition to the demonstrations at the stand, there will be plenty of opportunities to gain an insight into the training, watch smaller demonstrations and talk to the Iaidoka (Iaido practitioners) of the Honbu Dojo Kassel.
Feel free to visit us at our stand, we look forward to seeing you!
