mpi is a versatile artist: as a lyricist and vocalist, he has shaped the sound of iconic anime titles for over a decade – often in close collaboration with exceptional composer Hiroyuki Sawano, with whom he created numerous world-famous tracks. At Anime Festival Kassel, mpi will perform several songs that promise epic concert moments, including:
His path into the music scene was unconventional: after spending several years in New York, mpi initially worked as a translator in Japan – until his journey led him to anime music, where he collaborated with artists such as Aimer, Cyua, and Aimee Blackschleger. He wrote numerous well-known anime songs for them, including “EGO” and “A LETTER” for Mobile Suit Gundam UC, “DOA” for Attack on Titan, as well as “Before My Body is Dry”, “I Want to Know”, and “Suck Your Blood” for Kill la Kill.
