Cosplay-Contest - Anime Festival Kassel 2023

With their impressive costumes straight out of the world of anime and manga, cosplayers enchant the audience and are the centre of attention at every anime event. The Anime Festival Kassel is no exception! Join us on Saturday at 2:20 pm in the grand ballroom for the eagerly awaited cosplay competition. The 1st place winner will receive not only a generous voucher from AnimeFanShop.de but also an exclusive weekend trip to the Anime Messe Babelsberg 2024!

Your creativity and passion for cosplay will be in the spotlight in this competition. Every contestant has the chance to shine not only with their costume but also to bring their character to life on stage. 1st Place:

• 150 Euro voucher for AnimeFanShop.de
• A weekend trip to the Anime Messe Babelsberg 2024, where the winner opens the cosplay competition with a non-competitive performance and takes part as a jury member. The trip includes: train travel from the EU, hotel accommodation, and a 3-day ticket for the fair.

2nd Place:

• 100 Euro voucher for AnimeFanShop.de and a 3-day ticket to the Anime Messe Babelsberg 2024

3rd Place:

• 50 Euro voucher for AnimeFanShop.de and a 3-day ticket to the Anime Messe Babelsberg 2024

Procedure:

• 90 minutes before the cosplay competition there's a mandatory costume assessment. Meeting point: Weapons Check.
• 15 minutes before the competition: Meet again at Weapons Check. After a briefing, head to the stage.
• After all performances, there will be a group photo and the prize ceremony. If pressed for time, the prize ceremony will be conducted at the closing ceremony.

Evaluation Criteria:

• A jury evaluates based on: Implementation, Craftsmanship, Presentation, Audience Reaction, Overall Impression.
• Implementation and craftsmanship are assessed during the costume evaluation, the rest on stage.
• Each criterion is rated on a scale of 1 to 10.

Registration / Participation conditions:

• Online registration is preferred. On-the-spot registration is limited.
• There are 15 starting slots. Once full, further registrations will be put on a waiting list.
• Entries can be made individually or as a group (max. 6 members).
• Participants must be 16 years old on the day of the competition and have a convention ticket.
• When registering, a reference image for the cosplay must be submitted.
• Media files (images/music/videos) must be sent in 7 days prior to the competition. For special media or lighting wishes, a script is required. Templates are provided.
• Costumes, whether purchased or homemade, should be based on animes, mangas, games, etc. Original creations are allowed.
• Costumes must comply with cosplay guidelines; flagged weapons are allowed as props during the competition.
• Appropriate costumes are mandatory, as it's a youth event.
• Performance duration: max. 3 minutes. It's up to you how you present your cosplay. For example: dance, singing, show or comedy routine, etc.
• Leave the stage clean. No confetti or hard-to-remove materials.
• Ensure everyone's safety during the performance. No fire, no dangerous actions, and no throwing objects into the audience.
• Changes in costume or casting must be reported in advance.
• If you can't attend, please inform in advance to give others a chance.
• By taking part, you agree that we may use the video and photo recordings made as part of the competition.
